The name Cypsela comes from a Greek settlement situated at Playa de Pals; once a very important port. The inhabitants of this town called it Cypsela in honour of the goddess of nature. Unfortunately, there are no traces left of this civilisation, but its name was used for a different kind of town: Camping Cypsela, which opened its doors in June 1967 with a surface of 35.6000m2, approximately 400 emplacements, and rating the first category.
Some years later, in 1973, Cypsela obtained as the first campsite in Spain the luxury category, being the only campsite with this rating until 10 years ago. Since its opening until today, continuous work has been carried out to increase and improve its installations and facilities; always aiming for being one of the best.
Nowadays, Cypsela occupies a surface of 200.000m2 and has a total of 902 emplacements, of which 34 are used for bungalows.
